There are frequent queries with regard to entrance examination and syllabus. 

Admission to Central Universities participating in CUCET  is for five year Integrated MA/MSC/MBA programmes and also post graduate programmes in arts, sciences, technology and humanities.

Post Graduate Programmes


The entrance test will have two parts, A and B.
Part A will have 35 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and are intended to test the applicants’ general
awareness, reasoning, basic language skills (English) and analytical skills.
Part B will be subject specific wherever needed and desired by the respective universities or the subjects will be grouped together to form one paper. There will be 65 questions. In science and technology subjects all the questions are multiple choice questions and are based on general BSc/BTech level subjects in various Indian universities and technology institutions. In arts and humanities in subjects such as economics all the questions will be MCQs and are based on general economics subject syllabus in universities. In subjects such as development studies, psychology the questions will also be MCQs.

They are intended to test the ability of the students to reflect and comment on topics pertaining to the course they wish to pursue.

Integrated MA/M Sc/M Tech/MBA/BBA/BA…

All Integrated courses will have one paper incorporating A and B. The B part will deal with science subjects such Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Instructions will be given in the question paper with regard to the combination of sections that the student will have to answer based on his/her preference. Please note that since applied integrated MSc programmes also have the same eligibility conditions i.e. plus two examination, the paper will be common to both the basic subject such as Physics, Chemistry.. and Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry. For arts, humanities and business administration programme there will be one common paper and the subjects will be allocated based on preference and performance in the test.

MBA programmes will have CAT model test.

Languages such English, Hindi and Classical Tamil will have one language specific paper divided into two parts A and B where A will be on general awareness and language skills and B will be language specific test. Comparative literature students will have to take the M A English test.

MPhil Applicants to note:

For MPhil in Science subjects the test carries 100 MCQs. It will be based on the post graduate level
competencies in the respective subjects.

Although the students who have qualified in UGC/CSIR NET or similar tests are exempted from admission test, they have to submit the application to Central University of Kerala before the last date.
